The Crow's Dream

Philosophy, geekery, and the meaning if life, and what I read this week…

Temple of science

with one comment

I just read an article in Wired Magazine about a guy who built a temple for the worship of science. His aim was to create a piece of art that would make people think about the dichotomy between both modes of understanding.

I think that the idea of worshiping science is ridiculous. Science is not a doctrine or an entity, but a method for asking questions. This method has yielded a lot more reliable results than visios and chanelling, but it is only a method to look at the universe.

Although science may find awe inspiring things, it does not provide idols of entities of worship.

In the end, the question we need to ask ourselves is wether or not we have what it takes to undertake our own personal journey towards finding meaning an fulfillment in our relationship with the cosmos. Not wether we believe in an entity to provide it for us.
